Reason for this visit

As one of the largest markets around the world, Japan is the first country putting cryptocurrency under regulation. So there are plenty of cryptocurrency exchanges in Japan, as well as many overseas exchanges seeking to access the market. In order to help investors to get a more comprehensive understanding of the country's cryptocurrency exchanges, the survey team will go to Japan for on-site visits to local exchanges.

On-site visit

In this issue, the investigation team went to Tokyo, Japan to visit the cryptocurrency exchange GMOコイン (licensee: GMO Coin, Inc.) as planned according to its registered regulatory address that Shibuya Fukuras, 1-2-3 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

The survey team arrived at the destination on March 1, 2023, where Business-Airport Shibuya Fukuras was situated in Shibuya-ku, and spotted that the floors 9-16 were occupied by GMO Group from the company directory of the comprehensive business office building equipped with offices, restaurants, shops etc. Unfortunately, people weren’t allowed to pay a special visit without a permission. Therefore, the survey personnel failed to reach the target floor.

Conclusion

The survey personnel went to Tokyo, Japan to visit the cryptocurrency exchange GMOコイン (GMO Coin, Inc.) as scheduled, and found the company’s physical business office, which was easy to notice with moderate scale. Investors are advised to make a sensible choice based on a comprehensive consideration.
